Lyrics:
Hook: Ski mask, throwing rocks at the spot light
Man in the mirror, Ima do what you do not like
If I get out of line Spirit make me sit down
The humble can't dance, but they know how to get down

Verse 1
Used to be a fool for a dime and a quarter
Old me is dead you can find him in the water
I’m all the way persuaded, not no kinda or no sorta
When it’s time to go to war, you better line up with your sword up
It won’t cut the fool but it cut a fool
Let him know that Christ the only way
Not another dude
Watch Him put your idols on they face
Off the pedestals
All these study Bibles on the table
Look like Sunday school/we can randevu
Wait wait wait who is Dolce and Gabbona?
I put this Christ on and made the angels go bananas
Let’s brag on the creator if we bragging about designer
All my treasure made in Heaven
All your treasure made in China
Boy that’s why you stressed
Giving Yahweh all the honor
Boy that’s how you flex
Please don’t be a primadonna
Put that down to rest
We don’t got a lot of time and all we do is only minor
Give the Glory to the Father in a….

Verse 2:
Glory glory glory to the Savior on High
At one time we didn’t know if we would make it out alive
‘Cause that sin is kinda pricey but He paid it on the spot
Now it time to preach the Gospel so the saints will multiply
Like you know what time it is ain’t even taking out a watch
If you got the mind of Christ that means you thinking out the box
That Mercedes value drop soon as you take it off the lot
But His mercy’s everlasting and His grace He got a lot
Only one deserves the glory; this is not up for debate
They killed Him but He turned around and shot up from the grave
We ain’t thirsty ‘cause we sipping Living Water for the race
And when we cross that finish line, it’s just a product of his Grace……singing

Production Story
I had a great time producing Get Down, especially since it had been a while since I created a full track as an artist. I approached this project with minimal initial ideas, but I knew I wanted to create something energetic and high-impact. As the track developed, I intentionally moved away from my usual approach of layering melodies and chord progressions. Instead, I focused on allowing the drums, 808 bass, and sound design elements to carry the energy of the track.
This decision was initially uncomfortable, as it felt contrary to much of what I’ve learned about composition and music theory. However, it ultimately became one of the most defining aspects of the song. My goal was to create a track that could fit in a sports environment—something that could be played in a basketball arena or football stadium to energize athletes and audiences.
From a production standpoint, I built the instrumental in Reason 13 using VSTs and one shot samples (Kontakt, Redrum, NNXT) and completed the vocal recording and mix in Logic Pro. The 808 bass was designed to function as both the kick and the primary musical element, making it the focal point of the mix.
One of the main challenges I encountered was balancing the 808 so that it remained powerful without overwhelming the rest of the track. To address this, I applied a low-pass filter to the 808 and used high-pass filtering on other elements, including the vocals, to create space in the low-frequency range. Compression was another challenging aspect of the mix. While I applied it to control dynamics, I recognize that this is still an area where I need further development and refinement.
Reflection
Overall, I am satisfied with how Get Down turned out, particularly in terms of its energy and overall concept. The track successfully captures the aggressive, hype-driven feel I was aiming for. However, I believe there is room for improvement, especially in the mixing stage. If I were to revisit this project, I would focus on refining the vocal blend and achieving a more balanced overall mix. Despite these areas for growth, this project was a valuable learning experience and helped me better understand how to approach minimal, rhythm-driven productions.
